Master and brethren of the hospital of the chivalry of St Lazarus of Jerusalem in England.

Nature of request
The master and brethren request remedy in that they have the keeping of the hospital of St Giles outside London by the gift of Edward I, whilst Henry III, founder of the hospital gave by his charter 60s. from his Exchequer, which has been unpaid since the removal of the Exchequer from London to York in the time of Edward I, to their great damage.
Nature of endorsement
The master and brethren should display their charters for the receiving of the rent which that have at the Exchequer in the presence of the chancellor and treasurer; and they are to inform themselves in what manner, and when the rent was received from the Exchequer by the master and brethren, and if they had a writ de Liberate, and they should see that right is done.

The petition is dated to 1316 by the title in Rot. Parl., vol I, p.337 referring to the parliament at Lincoln after the octave of St Hillary, 9 Edward II.
