Description
Petitioners
Mayor and citizens of London.
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The mayor and citizens request remedy so that the following matters can be enquired into so that they can have an allowance at the Exchequer. They rendered at the Exchequer on account 100 marks or more for Robert de Roquesle, late sheriff of London, though the late sheriff in the 22 year of the late king paid £21 11s. 3d. by a writ of the king to William de Gray, which the king was obliged to by the letters patent of Henry de Lacy, the king's lieutenant in Gacony. However although a writ of allowance was returned into the Exchequer, the mayor and citizens cannot have an allowance for the sum because the letters patent of the earl are not able to be found.
