Nature of request
Saluces, as parson of the royal chapel of Tickhill peaceably holds the greater part of the churches pertaining to the free chapel, however, Roger le Brabazon has presented one of his own clerks to the church of East Bridgeford, one of the members of the chapel, and an inquest was passed that Brabazon was patron of that church. The presentation has been had to the disinheritance of the king and the great damage of Saluces, and he requests that the king order the process of the inquest to be brought before him, and if the presentation was made in error, that he have redress.1)

The petition is dated to c. 1307-c. 1315. There is a related petition by the archbishop of York dating to 1315, but there is also a summons to Saluces in CCR 1302-7, p.524 which makes reference to petitions by the archbishop and by Brabazon which dates this to 1307. Clearly all of these petitions are related, but it is not possible to confirm that SC 8/2/95 is contemporary with these.
