The monks request that the king attest to the pope that he has ordered an inquest concerning the dilapidations made to their house by Robert de Wainfleet who calls himself abbot of Bardney which has been returned into Chancery, but that Wainfleet has purchased an exemption so that the bishop of Lincoln, ordinary of the place is not able to visit it or examine his deeds, and by his long reign has confounded the house and the king's alms forever.

The petition is dated to c. 1315 by reference to the title in Rot. Parl., vol I, p.314, noting a related petition to be for the parliament held at Westminster in the octave of Hillary, 8 Edw.II. The Rot. Parl., vol I, p.328b (no. 201) is not the same petition, though it is likely to date to it quite closely.
