Nature of request
Hasting requests remedy for he is regularly distrained by the constable of Dover for the account and arrears of his grandfather Matthew de Hastings, despite Hasting's father having made fine with Edward I in the sum of 100 marks for a pardon of the same account and arrears for Matthew de Hastings' term as sheriff of Surrey and Suffolk, and his custody of the town of Winchelsea and Rye. The treasurer and barons will not accept the fine and will not stop the distraints.

Note
The petition is dated to 1315 by reference to the title in Rot. Parl., vol I, p. 314, noting that a related petition was for the parliament held at Westminster in the octave of Hillary, 8 Edw.II. The Rot. Parl., vol I, p.326a (no. 183) is not the same petition, though it probably closely dated to it.
