Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/2/80
Date
[c. 1315]
Description
Petitioners
Tenants of Penrith, Salkeld and Scotby.
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The tenants request grace and remedy for they have been disturbed by the king's ministers of the forest in their profit from taking firewood in the forest of Inglewood, wood knocked down by wind, and turfs in the turbary of their common pasture for which they have and still do render a farm.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be by a writ of Chancery in due form to the keeper of the forest beyond Trent that he do justice on the contents of this petition.
Places mentioned
Penrith, [Cumberland]
Salkeld, [Cumberland]
Scotby, [Cumberland].
Note
The petition is dated to c. 1315 by reference to the title in Rot. Parl., vol I, p.289, noting a related petition to be for the parliament held at Westminster in the octave of Hillary, 8 Edw. II, though the petition in Rot. Parl., vol I, p.313b (no. 100) is clearly not the same one as the extent one, it must closely date to it.
