Screvin shows that whereas he and his ancestors from time out of mind had the chief keepership in fee of the forestry of the forest of Knaresborough, and of parks, William de Vaux late steward of Knaresborough, who is dead, in malice and without reason wrongly deprived Screvin from his bailiwick and his keepership when he committed no trespass. Screvin requests remedy and restitution according to the law and reason, so that Screvin, his heirs or servants are not disinherited.

The constable of the castle of Knaresborough is ordered to enquire more fully into the contents of the petition and certify the king.

This can be dated fairly closely to 1315 by the title contained in Rot. Parl., vol I, p.289 which notes this as being 'Responses made in the presence of the king and his great council in the parliament of the king after the Octave of St Hillary, in the 8th year'.
