Nature of request
Bevercotes requests the gift of all churches under the value of 20 marks which are vacant in the lands which are in the gift of the king as other chancellors of Scotland have had.
Nature of endorsement
It is to be granted to the chancellor that he be able to grant benefices which do not exceed the value of £20 per annum, provided that he confers them on clerks who are servants of the king.
Note
Dated to 1308-9 by the headings from the Hale MS. in Rot. Parl., vol I, p.273, which makes this 'Petitions in Parliament 2 Edw. II'. This dating is seemingly confirmed by PROME, Appendix of Unedited Petitions, 1307-1337, Rotuli Parliamentorum I, pp. 273-280, no. 26.
