Nature of request
Bealchamp requests that:1) He be excused the payment of scutage that the king is demanding from him for the levying of the first Welsh war as during that time he and his men did service in so far as he was able. Nevertheless he is distrained for the scutage in his lands of Somerset.2) Whereas there are diverse debts currently demanded in the Exchequer from the heirs of William de Forz, and he is one of the heirs by marriage, he requests that the king respite the debts until the next parliament after Easter that he be able to seek aquittances if there are any to be had. He requests that the king compel the other heirs to answer with him for the same time.
