Nature of request
Ercedyakene requests remedy and an enquiry because his lands have been taken into the king's hand by the sheriff of Cornwall because he did not do service in the Scottish war. However, he and his ancestors have never done such service or owe it. In the meantime he requests that he have his land by mainprise, and should the inquisition confirm his contention then the sheriff should make restitution for him for what he had levied of his lands.
Nature of endorsement
The treasurer and barons by a writ of Chancery are to hear the reasons of Ercedyakene, and if they find that he should be quit of the service then he is to be quit. And he should have a writ to the sheriff of Cornwall that he deliver to Ercedyakene his lands until one month after Easter. A day is to be given to Ercedyakene.

The petition is dated to 1307 on the basis of Rot. Parl., vol I, p.192, the dating of the memoranda roll being for the parliament at Carlisle on Wednesday in the Octave of St Hillary, 35 Edw. I.
