Nature of request
The Kereseys show that whereas they have impleaded John de Ferrers and Hawise his wife of the manor of Alvescot before Ralph de Hengham and his colleagues, which manor Henry de la Mare died seised in his lordship as of fee, Joan being Henry's kinswoman and heir. John de Ferrers and Hawise in pleading said that the current king gave the manor to Robert de Muscogros and his heirs, and that they are seised of the same by right and the inheritance of Hawise who was the daughter of Robert. John de Ferrers and Hawise showed their royal charter and said that they could not answer without the king by which the parties were quit and without a day. The Kereseys request that the king, if it pleases him order the sheriffs to proceed with the plea according to the law and usage of the realm, the charter notwithstanding, so that their right is not further delayed, or Joan disinherited.
Nature of endorsement
If the charter contains warranty then proceedings are to be suspended, and if not, then they are to proceed, and the justices are to be so commanded by a writ of Chancery.
