The bishop states that whereas Gilbert Pecche and his ancestors held from the bishop's predecessors several knight's fees in Cambridgeshire which the king's father purchased, and which remain in the hand of the king. The bishop requests that provision is made for these fees elsewhere.

Impeton (Impington), Cambridgeshire.
People mentioned
Gilbert Pecche [Peche].
Note
Although Ely presents some problems in that there are three bishops with the Christian name John in the period 1286-1337, this petition certainly belongs to Bishop John Hotham (1316-1337). The nature of the petition suggests a date after 1322 when petitions start to be regularly endorsed in French, and because the following petition dates to 1305 it makes it clear that it was Edward I who purchased the land, and that this petition therefore dates to 1322-1326.
