Nature of request
Moriley requests his lands in the vills of Ellenborough, Little Broughton, Gutterby and Picket How in Cumberland which are in the king's hands because Thomas de la Moriley father of the petitioner, whose heir he is, was against the king in the first Scottish war, and came during that war into the king's peace, and remained in the same for his life, and died in the king's fealty. Moriley states that he is of full age and holds nothing in chief from the king.
Nature of endorsement
In the presence of the council. It is to be inquired by a writ of the Chancery of the manner and cause of the taking of the land into the hand of the king, and of other circumstances etc., and if the petitioner was always in the peace of the king or not. And the king is to be informed upon this etc.
