Ludgate requests deliverance from prison for himself and his man Roger, both of whom have been in prison since Monday before Candlemas, so that he can defend his son who is underage against his adversaries in a suit of court Christian. Ludgate has been committed to prison by reason of a bull which he purchased in error from his ordinaries to defend his son Laurence de Seintmor so that he is not deprived of his inheritance at the suit of his sisters who wished to have Laurence declared as a bastard and deprive him of his inheritance, he being defended in the court Christian by his mother, all of which can be seen by Laurence's complaint made before the king and his auditors, the earl of Lincoln and his companions against William de Bromptone, late justice of the bench, that by error and against the law of the land and the dignity of the crown was adjudged to the court Christian
