Chesterfield's response to Count Bentinck's memorial [SP 87/23/117]: the king favours [Saxe's] proposal for peace, and Sandwich has communicated his opinions to the prince of Orange. His consideration for the other allies. Sandwich to report on his negotiations to the ministers of the republic, Maria Theresa and the king of Sardinia. As to preparations for war, the king has already sent instructions to his minister in Russia to negotiate for a corps of 30,000. Dated at Whitehall. ff. 254-258
