Public health of Jamaica. Dr Bowerbank, physician from Kingston, suggests legislative action to improve and protect public health and the adequate administration of laws in force. Apparent inaction of government has lead to unnecessary suffering, sickness and mortality from small pox; for example, insufficient quarantine legislation lead to small pox re-infection in Kingston. Acting governor accuses Bowerbank of exaggeration and of failing to give substantial evidence to enable government investigations, as do the Quarantine Board and Board of Health.
William A. Young, acting Governor, Jamaica No.44. Folios 160-240.
