Letter from Thomas Zouch concerning George Dent convicted at the Easter Yorkshire North Riding Quarter Sessions at North Allerton [Northallerton] in 1789. An earlier petition in favour of the prisoner had been presented. Zouch now states that although his was 1 of the signatures, he had now found that representations to him were false and after speaking with the chairman of the sessions the whole bench now agree the prisoner deserves no mercy. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Recommendation: no mercy. Folios 467-468. See also HO 47/12/115, folios 463-464.
