Report of John William Rose, Recorder of London, on Hannah Kelly, convicted in May 'last' at the Old Bailey[?], for stealing 7 pairs of men's leather shoes, value 20/-, property of John Hoppy, shoemaker in the Minories in London. Evidences supplied by John Smith, apprentice shoemaker; ------ Bocherah, constable, Mary Herbert and the prisoner. Grounds for clemency: was perhaps her first offence, 5 witnesses gave a previous good character and the crime was committed with no aggravating circumstances. Initial sentence: not given.
