Report of John William Rose, Recorder of London, on Richard Lewis, convicted (with William Stephens) at the Old Bailey[?] in December 1786 for stealing 40lbs of lead, value 10 guineas, fixed to the dwelling house of Mark Spott. Evidences supplied by John Hall, George Thompson, Joseph Peele, constable[?] and the prisoner. There is mention of a third individual, --- Taylor, who had escaped. Grounds for clemency: has served 3 years. Initial sentence: not given. Recommendation: to enlist in HM. Navy and to find sureties for good behaviour for the time equal to remainder of his sentence.
