Report of John William Rose, Recorder of London, on 1 individual petition (Lord Eardley) on behalf of Thomas Pickard, convicted (with James Gardner) at the Old Bailey[?] in July 1786, for stealing 100 weight of lead, value 20/-, property ('affixed to the house) of Mary Hignett. Evidences supplied by John Carter and William Smith, watchman. Grounds for clemency: had already served 4 years and behaved well[?] during this time. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Recommendation: if a seaman to enlist in HM. Navy and if not in the land services in India, and find sureties for the time equal to remainder of his sentence.
