Report of John William Rose, Recorder of London, on William Thompson, convicted at the Old Bailey in October 1786, for stealing 1 linen handkerchief, value 6d, property of John Parker, jeweller and goldsmith, on 5 September 1786. Evidences supplied by John Parker, William Boutflower, William Forsyth and the prisoner. Grounds for clemency: already served 4 years in prison where he had shown good conduct authenticated by a prison officer. Initial sentence: not given. Recommendation: to enlist in HM. Navy and find sureties for the remainder of his sentence.
