Report/letter of John William Rose, Recorder of London, on George Clear and Elizabeth Clear convicted at the Old Bailey, for (George) stealing goods, value £38, property of William Rogers. Mr Justice Buller and Mr Justice Wilson disagreed with the verdict of the jury and so Rose discharged George Clear after fining him 1/-. Elizabeth Clear was found guilty of receiving the goods and sentenced to 14 years transportation as directed by act of parliament in such cases. Under the circumstances recommends Elizabeth Clear to a free pardon.
