The High Commissioner, Sir Edward Gent, KCMG, DSO, OBE, MC, signing the oath of allegiance after being sworn in as Acting Governor-General at Kings House, Kuala Lumpur on February 3rd 1948. On H.E.'s right is the Honourable Acting Chief Justice, Mr E.O Pretheroe and on his left the Secretary General Sir Ralph Hone, KBE, MC, TD, KC.'
