Certificate of free pardon issued by John William Rose, Recorder of London, for John Williams, convicted at the Old Bailey in May 1787, for stealing a silver spoon and sentenced to 7 years transportation, but receiving a conditional pardon. Williams not being held in Rose's jurisdiction (City of London and Middlesex) the certificate instructs those holding him to release him from gaol following his meeting the criteria for his free pardon: to provide security for 2 years good behaviour. A pencilled annotation suggests he is on board the Dunkirk hulk.
Folios 200-201.
