Letter from John William Rose, Recorder of London, concerning Thomas Chafey and his imminent execution. He requests that the execution is staid until the King's pleasure is known regarding statute 4 Geo 1 Chapter 11 which empowers the court to order the offender to be transported, when the King has extended his mercy on condition of transportation, whether or not he chooses to accept the King's pardon. Other points of law surrounding this issue are also questioned. Folios 198-199. See also HO 47/9/51, folios 184-185.
