Report of John William Rose, Recorder of London, on Joseph Fennel, convicted for stealing a linen handkerchief, value 10d, property of Mr Morris, barrister at law, on 18 April 1789. Initial sentence: transportation[?]. Recommendation: no mercy unless the fact can be ascertained that a voyage beyond the seas would endanger his life in his present state of health, in which case perhaps to find security for good behaviour for remainder of his sentence.
