Report of John William Rose, Recorder of London, on Edward Caseltine, wagon driver, convicted for stealing 6 bushels of coals, value 5/-. Evidences supplied by William Partridge, Ann Deer, and T. Godsill, wharfinger at Wapping in Middlesex. Caseltine deposited 2 sacks of coal into the cellar window of Mrs Michael. The judge considered the prisoner, as an employee, to be 'bound to protect & not pilfer the property'. Recommendation: no mercy.
