Report of John William Rose, Recorder of London, on William Nobbs, convicted for stealing a silver pocket watch, value 39/-, property of John Blades, doorkeeper at the Old Bailey for 10 years, and who lived in Chancery Lane. Blades suffered from fits affecting his limbs and speech. Evidences supplied by constables Grays and Holmes who thought Blades was drunk after the crime due to his fits. The offence was aggravated by the prisoner taking advantage of the infirmity of a sick man. Recommendation: no mercy.
