Certificate of John William Rose, Recorder of London, for George Charlwood, convicted at the Old Bailey in February 1786, for stealing a horse and sentenced to transportation. Grounds for clemency: security has been received to the satisfaction of the Recorder of London for Charlwood's future good behaviour, and he is to receive a free pardon. The royal warrant has been received (9 July 1789) for his release, but since he is not within Rose's jurisdiction, this certificate authorises his release. Folios 92-93. See also HO 47/9/14, folios 88-89.
