Report of John William Rose, Recorder of London, on Moses Sillitoe, butcher, convicted at the Old Bailey for receiving 3 stolen sheep, value 40/-, and 1 wether lamb, from Abraham Jacobs, property of Mr Bennet. Prisoner blamed his lodger, Lee, for receiving the sheep. Evidences supplied by Bennet, ---- Haden, drover and servant to prosecutor, ---- Wood, drover and ---- Sadd, watchman. Grounds for clemency: previous good character and first offence. Initial sentence: not given. Recommendation: to transport himself for 14 years, with any two petitioners (who are housekeepers) acting as security for his not returning within that time.
