Certificate/memorial from Lord Loughborough concerning Christopher Richards, convicted at the Bedfordshire Assizes at Bedford, on 11 July 1782 for stealing goods in a shop, value 8/-. Grounds for clemency: favourable circumstance represented on the prisoners behalf. Initial sentence: death, commuted to 5 years in the 'Land Service' (army) in Africa for 5 years. Recommendation: remission/ pardon of sentence.
