Report of George Hardinge, on Lewis David, alias Thomas, convicted at the 'last' Great Sessions for Glamorganshire, for sheep stealing. Grounds for clemency: somewhat confused -he was of bad reputation, was accused by two other capital convicts of being their leader (although this may not be true) and that 2 prisoners have been executed for similar crimes thus affording example for the county; however, he was only facing 1 charge and some time had elapsed since that time. Initial sentence: death. Recommendation: transportation for life. Folios 101-102. See also HO 47/8/42, folios 151-154.
