Report of Nash Grose 1 collective petition (2 people, the high sheriff and foreman of the grand jury; signed by order of 22 fellow jurors) on behalf of John Kerrison, indicted to stand trial at the Norfolk Assizes at Thetford, for several felonies and burglaries. However, he did not stand trial as he was thought to be insane and so held in gaol until the next assize (March 1789) when he was certified insane and unlikely to recover. He had been kept chained to the floor during his time in gaol. The officers of his home parish, North Elmham, have said they were willing to receive and provide for the prisoner. There is also a covering letter from H. Hobart, grand jury foreman. Recommendation: mercy.
Folios 10-15.
