Letter from Charles Powell concerning David Lewis, convicted at the Breconshire Quarter Sessions[?] for stealing a turkey and other fowl. Powell considers him to have been found guilty on the clearest evidence and that some of the names in the petition [wanting] are suspect. Grounds for clemency: has many children (but not as many as are mentioned in the petition. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Recommendation: no mercy.
