Letter from Francis Buller on behalf of Edward Parkin alias Perkins and Robert Bell convicted at the Durham Assizes for a burglary and John Read convicted at the same assizes for breaking and entering a dwelling house in the daytime. He has not included the prisoners in the Circuit Letter as the "Officers of the County Palatine ...are not very conversant in their duty" thus "these men would remain in Prison for Life". Grounds for clemency: have been promised employment by people of character if released precipitously, are all young and of previous good character whose morals will not be improved by a period of imprisonment. Recommendation: pardon.
Folios 289-290.
