Scale: 1 inch to about 100 miles. MS additions, coloured, underlining the names of principal cities, and marking the boundaries of Canada Colony (now Ontario and Quebec) with Rupert's Land (including much of western and northern Canada) and New Brunswick. Originally accompanying a memorandum to the Queen [Victoria], concerning the selection of Ottawa as the Canadian capital, 18 May 1857.
