(17) No 2: 'Sections of the Ground near the Gate, and under the Walls of the Fort of Galle having reference to the proposed Coal Depot for the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company'. Scale: 1 inch to 20 feet. (Send) J S Hawkins, Lt RE, 7 March 1843. (18) No 1: 'Sketch of the G round near the Gate, and under the Walls of the Fort of Galle ...'. Scale: 1 inch to 100 feet. (Send) J S Hawkins, Lt RE, 14 February 1843. Both are copies certified by A Ross, Lt RE. Drawn to accompany Hawkins's letter of 7 March 1843 to the Commanding Royal Engineer and the Commanding Royal Engineer's letter of 10 March 1843 to the Military Secretary. Dimensions of sheets: (17) 27 cm x 40 cm; (18) 28 cm x 41 cm.
