Description

Greece. 'Mediterranean Archipelago. Stampalia Id ancient Astypaloea [now Astipalaia]': chart. Compass roses. Surveyed under the direction of Captain T A B Spratt, Royal Navy, HMS Medina, 1861; published at the Admiralty, 3 January 1865; this edition July 1877. MS additions, coloured, showing the sites of the proposed batteries of Port Vathy or Maltezana. MS reference table. Originally illustrating Sir Lintorn Simmons's report on a proposed coaling station for HM Fleet at the eastern end of the Mediterranean.
