Description

Europe: Balkans. (1) Copy of a sheet entitled 'The Question of Scutari (Skadar)', containing 2 photographic bird's-eye views of the basin of Lake Scutari (now Lake Shkodër) and of Montenegro, together with printed text, arguing that Scutari should become part of Montenegro, and a note on the secret Treaty of London, made with Italy, 1915. Barely legible in parts. (2) Map of the area (now in Albania and Yugoslavia between Kotor and Drin, and inland to Prizren, showing a projected Danube-Adriatic railway, projected narrow-gauge lines, terrain, and place names. Copy of MS original with coloured MS additions. Reference table. Scale: 1:500,000. By D J Derocco, Paris. (3) '... Approximate zones according to the Treaty of London (April 26, 1915)': map showing areas to be allotted to Serbia, Montenegro, Albania and Italy; area claimed by Greece; a projected Danube-Adriatic railway; and Serbo-Croato-Slovene, Italian, French and British garrisons. Copy of printed map, with coloured MS additions. Typed reference table. Scale: 1:400,000. All originally enclosed in letter from A Radovitch, Montenegrin delegate to the Peace Conference, to A J Balfour, British delegate, 3 September 1919. Dimensions: (1) 36.5 cm x 47.5 cm; (2) 31 cm x 44 cm; (3) 46 cm x 36 cm.
