Description

East Africa. 3 sheets of maps and sections (of territory now in western Uganda). (3) 'Plate 1. Sketch map of a portion of Unyoro': showing an area immediately east of Lake Albert. Scale: 1 inch to 6 miles [1:380,160]. Compass indicator. (4) 2 sections on 1 sheet, showing the routes of the Kisalizi - Magungu and Kisalizi - Butiaba Railways. Horizontal scale: 1 inch to 8 miles [1:506,880]; vertical scale: 1 inch to 800 feet [1:9,600]. (5) 'Plate 3. Kisalizi-Butiaba Rly. Sketch based on a tacheometrical traverse to show location of the line on the escarpment': map. Scale: 1:15,238. Compass indicator. Lithographed by Weller and Graham, Ltd; printed at the Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton, 1909. Items 3 and 5 signed: Captain A G Stevenson, Royal Engineers. Dimensions: (3) 29 cm x 29.5 cm; (4) 22 cm x 33.5 cm; (5) 31.5 cm x 34.5 cm. Originally illustrating a print of Stevenson's report on proposed railway routes across Unyoro (or Bunyoro); this report was enclosed in H Hesketh Bell's [despatch] number 120, 18 May 1908.
