(6) 'Sketch map shewing route of native commission, Matabeleland [now part of Zimbabwe]': showing relief, drainage and vegetation along the circuit (from north-east of Bulawayo to the Shangani River) traversed by Captain Charles F Lindsell and Judicial Commissioner J Vintcent on a tour of inspection to assign locations for the Shangani and Gwayi native reserves, marking the distances travelled and points reached by them. Scale: 1 inch to about 5 miles. Cardinal points. (7) Map of the proposed native reserves, showing drainage, tracks and settlements. Reference notes on vegetation, geology, tribes and tsetse flies. Scale: 1 inch to 15.25 miles (calculated). Both items by Captain Lindsell; lithographed by Wyman and Sons, Ltd. Dimensions: (6) 60.5 cm x 40.5 cm; (7) 33.5 cm x 51.5 cm. Produced to illustrate the commissioners' report, 18 July 1894; formerly enclosed in a print (Confidential Print number 68, published 21 August 1895) of despatch number 676 from Sir Henry B Loch, Governor and High Commissioner, Cape Town, 19 November 1894.
