Description

105 items, numbered 1, 2a, 2b, 2c, 3-103. (1) and (103) Front and back covers, originally enclosing (2a)-(102). The front cover bears the title 'Aero Report. Maps. July 1916'. Both covers stamped by the Committee of Imperial Defence, Historical Section, Air Branch.
(2a, 2b, 8, 10, 15, 20, 24, 27, 28, 32, 36, 40, 45, 51, 54, 57, 62, 65, 68, 71, 75, 79, 82, 85, 91, 95, 97-102) TC 41: 32 copies of a lithographed, coloured, map covering the River Tigris (Nahr Dijlah) between Kut al Amarah (now Al Kut) and Shaykh Sa'd, showing waterways, settlements, routes, and areas that are flooded in April and May. Scale: 1 inch to 2 miles [1:126,720]. Compass indicator. [By the Tigris Corps], 8 July 1916. Different MS additions, coloured, to each item except 97-102. The area covered by this map is now in Wasit province, Iraq.
(2c, 3-7, 9, 11,14, 16-17, 19, 21-23, 26, 28-31, 33-34, 37-38, 41-44, 46-50, 520-53, 55-56, 58-61, 63-64, 66-67, 69-70, 72-74, 76-78, 80-81, 83-84, 87-90, 92-94) 65 sheets of Aircraft Reconnaissance Reports from the 3rd Indian Army Corps. MS and printed.
(18, 25, 35, 86, 96) 5 similar printed maps, cut from larger sheets, showing settlements and waterways in the area around Kut al Hayy (now in Wasit Province, Iraq). Items 18, 25 and 96 are damaged. Scale: 1 inch to 2 miles [1:126,720]. Compass indicators. Different MS additions, coloured, to each item.
(39) TC 38: 'Country between Thorny Nala and enemy trenches between Chahela Mounds as far as Sinn Abtar Redoubt': lithographed map consisting of 2 joined sheets, showing settlements, military installations, waterways and marshland (including part of the Hawr As Suwayqiyah) in an area to the east and north-east of Kut al Amarah. Scale: 3 inches to 1 mile [1:21,120]. Compass indicator. [By the Tigris Corps], 19 May 1916.
