China: Chusan Island. Plan and elevation of the proposed obelisk to be erected in the English cemetery at Tinghai, in commemoration of those who died in the 1858 war with China, and in replacement of earlier gravestones. Scale: 1 inch to 8 inches (calculated). Originally enclosed with proposal dated 25 January 1897 from Capt R Groome, HMS Aeolus, an estimate from Anders Olsen, Monumental Sculptors, Hong Kong, and correspondence dated 1896-1897 concerning the proposals.
