[To Secretary St John] from Ormonde: he encloses correspondence with Villars on the surrender of Dunkirk. The prince of Anhalt has expressed his master's [king of Poland/elector of Saxony] surprise at the queen's wish for his troops to withdraw. Reaction of other German commanders. He has refused to support Prince Eugene, who he thinks will attack Landrecies. If this happens, Ormonde will proceed to Warneton. He denies that he showed the queen's orders to undertake nothing to Prince Eugene and the Dutch deputies. Dated at camp at Château de Cambrésis. ff. 33-36
