Description

Marlborough [to St John]: attack by the enemy on the village of Hourdain and a fort of fascines in the swamp [before Bouchain]. Entrenchments have been made from Hourdain to Juvy to prevent a recurrence. The enemy artillery are firing across the river, but the range is too great. He is preparing to attack the counterscarp. Dated at camp before Bouchain. ff. 246, 247
