Marlborough to St John: he has informed the duke of Saxe-Meiningen's officer that the queen cannot accept his offer. He encloses a copy of a letter from the states general pressing for the battalions to complete the corps of neutrality [SP 87/6/86] and his reply [SP 87/6/87]. The overtures of the elector of Bavaria at The Hague in the spring were made with French connivance. Enemy attack on encampments near Douai. Dated at camp at Lens. ff. 177, 178
