Marlborough to St John: the proposals brought by Palmes have been debated at The Hague, but neither the [grand] pensionary nor Prince Eugene have much opinion of them. Kanitz, commander of the Saxon forces, has brought him a letter desiring that he might begin his march homeward according to his orders from Count Fleming. He refused his consent. He encloses letters from Kanitz to him [SP 87/6/49], Kanitz's orders from Count Fleming, from him to Kanitz [SP 87/6/50], from him to the states [SP 87/6/48], and from him to Gersdorf [SP 87/6/51]. He is sending the same copies to Lord Raby to communicate to the states [general]. He hopes Prince Eugene may already have settled the matter at The Hague. PS. that fifteen forage boats have been burnt on the Scarpe. Dated at camp at Warde. ff. 103, 104
