[Marlborough to St John]: the affair of the 450,000 guilders is still not settled. The court at Berlin will not permit of the 8,000 Prussian troops for Spain. He encloses a letter [SP 87/5/341-345] and papers [SP 87/5/332-340] from Lord Raby. Prince Eugene has made representations to the emperor [Joseph I], and a letter from Palmes indicates that the emperor [Joseph I] is prepared to support King Charles [III] at his own expense. The states [general] recesses the next day, so Marlborough will be free to leave. Dated at The Hague. ff. 330, 331
