Marlborough to St John: negotiations on the 2,000 German cavalry designed for Spain. He encloses a letter [SP 87/5/142] from Paris which suggests the French are doing their utmost to reinforce the duke of Anjou [Philip V]. If Starhemberg has really reached Estremadura he may be able to make contact with the allied army in Portugal. Dated at camp before Aire. ff. 284, 285
