Marlborough to Boyle [in his own hand]: his intelligence from Dunkirk has been delayed by the illness of the messenger. A member of the council of state at Brussels has intelligence of an intended French attack on Scotland. If this proves true the five regiments of the Isle of Wight should be moved northwards and a squadron be placed off Dunkirk.. ff. 266, 267
